Judith Beckhard: I am a lawyer, a member of the IAPP, the Company Secretary for the ACFE and organize and speak and various conferences for Security Directors, Anti-Fraud Auditors, Board Members on my view and practice regarding how the GDPR should be treated as a compliance issue and monitored as such, and not just as a legal concern. I started in 2000 at Jones Day. In 2004, the French Data Protection Act was modified. Whistleblowing was a critical issue for US clients as well as blocking statutes in internal investigations and discovery procedures. I thus became a Privacy Lawyer. In 2006, I joined Debevoise & Plimpton and worked on the privacy issues raised by internal investigations in cross-border contexts. In 2015 I joined a UK Telecom company. I returned to the Bar a few years later when my team was dissolved and my position moved to London. Since July 2018, I have been working as a consultant and lawyer for various industrial, luxury and retail companies supporting them in implementing GDPR requirements in various cross-borders environments.
